Visit an art studio of mosaic and meet Valerie. Since childhood, her fingers were itchy. She is a handyman and a bargain-hunter. She is curious and likes to see how her treasures work together. She does Furniture restoration, sewing, painting and photography. She has always had a feel for everything that is visual, graphic and colorful. The mosaic has quickly established itself as the medium of predilection and has become her passion. Valerie’s work explores the infinite possibilities of games and contrasts matter whether gross (slate, stone, wood, metal) or more sophisticated (mirror, colored glass, gold, glass beads, ceramic).
Next we will have a real treat - a stop at a Hotel particulier from the 19th century where we will meet Pascale and her husband Bruno. Both are very talented.
It is in her studio/showroom that Pascale sets the decor of a very personal world underlined with a poetic and mysterious flair. The artist uses mainly recycled objects as the basis of her work. Old materials -testimony of time past- get infused with a new life under the magic of Pascale's hands. Her friends and some local boutiques cannot resist her "little creations" and ask for more. A few months later, she creates the art requested with her husband’s help in their studio. Her talent was consecrated when John Malkovich asked her to decorate his home... Pascale is an artist at heart and makes sure each of her hand-made creations reflect her soul in their uniqueness and imperfections.
Drive either to Isle sur la Sorgue to enjoy one of the most important antique markets in France ( market open on Saturdays and on Sundays ), or visit the best antique stores in Provence. At the end of the day, stop in Lumieres to see a beautiful place owned by Edith, for nearly three decades. The vocation of Edith is linen "turning around the white since the dawn of time". This passion was transmitted to her by her two grandmothers. During the holidays and every Thursday, Edith and her sister worked with their cousins doing embroidery. She never let go of the needle. Thousands of hours learning embroidery along with plenty of great meetings hatched a job. It is in her shop that Edith shares her passion with her clients. Buyers are amazed by the thoroughness and accuracy of the points here experienced embroiderers are delivering their little secrets that were passed down from mother to daughter. All are found in "an activity that resembles the work of artisans, hand-tied, which, with time, patience and experience becomes more and more accurate.
